Boys Tennis

Nearly halfway into the boys’ tennis season, the challenging schools are proving to be overpowering. The first match of the season started off with a score of 0-18 against the best school in league, Diamond Bar. Two days later the boys faced off against Walnut with a stronger determination. tennis

However, they still lost by a score of 1-17, making a slight improvement. Following the Walnut game was a 0-18 loss against Rowland. However, on 3/20, the team faced off against Diamond Ranch and although they still lost by a score of 3-15, it was their best effort so far. The latest match resulted in a 2-16 loss to Bonita. “The biggest problem the team is facing would have to be immaturity,” said head coach Jay Lin. “I don’t care about the wins and losses as long as they give their heart and all into the games.”

With half the season remaining, the team is still remaining optimistic for the future. With tennis, they play each school twice. “We should be fine if we just continue work hard and strive to become better,” said junior Abraham Wu. The advantage to playing each school twice is the opportunity to have a better idea of the opponent. By the second time around, playing the other schools should become easier due to the prior gained knowledge of the opponent’s strengths and weaknesses. “As the season continues, the players will get better and better, especially since many of them are still extremely young,” said Lin. “Our doubles pairs will grow more in sync and have a better chemistry. We’ll see how well they do when the time comes.”
